Biography
A Delaware native and lifetime resident, Jamie Judefind is an Associate in Potter Anderson’s Transactions and Corporate Counseling Group, with a primary focus on Real Estate transactions. She provides support to partners and senior attorneys whose practices encompass the full range of real estate law in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Jamie handles a wide range of commercial real estate matters involving private equity firms, investors, developers, borrowers, owners and lending institutions.
In her role, Jamie is responsible for review and accuracy of the diligence requirements of many client real estate transactions, which requires a myopic focus on every detail, in order to ensure everything is accurate, complete, and presents no discrepancies or issues. Jamie delivers this. Second in her law school class, she possesses a remarkable gift for precise, exacting and above all, thorough legal work.
Jamie frequently takes the lead on drafting the documents her work involves. A skilled writer, Jamie prepares documents that are succinct, lucid and effective. Given that the bulk of her practice involves regional transactions, her lifetime familiarity with the Delaware region allows her to backstop her research and review work with a firsthand knowledge of the area in which client projects will take place.
Most of all, however, Jamie provides the foundational information and organizational capabilities that ensure that client transactions are completed with efficiency. A pragmatist above all else, she understands what the different components of each transaction are, and how to provide them as needed, on schedule, and in response to each deal’s particular needs and objectives.
Real estate is a highly complex, document-driven legal specialty, with enormous amounts of capital at stake and deadlines and schedules that are either utterly nonnegotiable, or have significant financial consequences. Jamie’s role is to provide the operational and legal support needed to ensure that documents, legal issues and strategy all come together as planned, so that every transaction occurs, again, as planned.
As deals move towards closing, the parties predictable request – actually, require – a long list of documents, verifications, and conclusions in order for everything to proceed as planned. Jamie excels at the critical task of seeing to it that this takes place. Like a surgeon who reaches out for a scalpel, or a pilot who needs to put his hand on a switch without looking, the attorneys with whom Jamie work on real estate projects need, sometimes under considerable pressure, to know that what they need will be in place – correct, researched and ready. Jamie makes sure it is. Every time.
