Jury Verdict for Potter Anderson Client Sonos, Inc.

On December 15, 2017, a federal jury in Delaware gave Potter Anderson client Sonos, Inc. a complete victory in its patent infringement suit against Denon Electronics. The jury awarded Sonos approximately $2 million in lost profits and reasonable royalties and found that Denon’s infringement, through HEOS, Denon’s competing high-end wireless audio line, was willful. The jury also rejected Denon’s attempt to invalidate the three asserted Sonos patents, finding instead that all asserted patents are valid. 

As reported in IP Law360, a spokesperson for Sonos stated that the jury’s decision “recognizes Sonos’ history of innovation, acknowledges the value of our patent portfolio, and affirms responsible stewardship of intellectual property.”
