Reed Delivers IP 101 Training at Delaware Bio Program
As part of a program organized by the Delaware Bioscience Association, partner Janet Reed helped lead an “IP 101” training for employees of scientific companies and professionals who work in research and development, manufacturing and marketing. Reed and the other seasoned IP attorneys shared best practices, including what is classified as an invention, and how to protect it via trade secret or patent; non-disclosure agreements; and filing strategy.
Dr. Reed is the head of the firm’s intellectual property transactional and counseling practice. Though she counsels in all aspects of intellectual property, she focuses her practice on patents related to biotechnological inventions in food, medicine and agriculture. In addition to her law degree, Reed holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry and a Master’s degree in plant pathology. Prior to entering patent law, she accumulated 10 years of laboratory experience in biochemistry, molecular biology and plant physiology/pathology, in graduate-level research and as a visiting postdoctoral research scientist at DuPont.
