Denny Discusses Privacy and Cyber Risk in the Connected World
Partner Bill Denny will moderate an online CLE program on privacy and cyber risk in the connected world. Sponsored by the ABA, the program will focus on privacy, data ownership and security concerns through two use cases: connected cars and connected health care devices. Use Cases will provide specifics from varying viewpoints; including communications providers, manufacturers, business partners and other stakeholders. We will review the legal and regulatory landscape and the cutting-edge issues where technology is getting ahead of the law, including in the areas of consumer consent, control of data and security risks. We will provide a checklist of potential pitfalls and risks associated with the use of connected devices to assist the general business lawyer in advising clients, as well as suggestions for mitigation actions to manage risk and predictions for legal developments and the future of our interaction with connected products.
Denny has a business and litigation practice, focusing on commercial and corporate transactions, vendor management, mergers and acquisitions, data privacy and security and information technology. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals. He is the co-chair of the ABA Business Law Section’s Cyberspace Law Committee.
