Potter Anderson attorneys have a long history of commitment to their communities and have taken on leadership roles in countless legal, business, political, charitable and civic organizations. Our attorneys serve in numerous leadership positions in the American Bar Association and the Delaware State Bar Association.
Attorneys at Potter Anderson also participate as members of advisory boards for the Delaware state and federal judiciary, including committees involved in the nomination of new judges and the development of new legislation. Through these roles, Potter Anderson attorneys are helping to shape the rules and laws that affect the daily lives of those who do business in Delaware.
Pro bono legal service is another area in which Potter Anderson attorneys excel. Our attorneys include current and past board members of Delaware Volunteer Legal Services (DVLS), a statewide attorney volunteer organization providing legal services to those who are not able to afford attorneys. Several Potter Anderson attorneys currently serve, or have served, as chairs of the Combined Campaign for Justice, the DSBA's primary fund-raising initiative to support legal services for the poor. Our attorneys volunteer countless hours each year representing under-privileged clients through DVLS, Community Legal Aid and the Office of the Child Advocate.
Our attorneys have served as members of the boards of directors of numerous nonprofit agencies in Delaware, including among others, the United Way of Delaware, United Cerebral Palsy of Delaware, Hospice of Delaware, Ingleside Homes, Planned Parenthood, the Nature Conservancy, Ducks Unlimited, Delaware Greenways, Historical Society of Delaware, Preservation Delaware, Inc., the Reading Assist Institute, Hagley Museum and Library, and Winterthur Museum.
These activities reflect the commitment of Potter Anderson's attorneys to active community involvement, not only to fulfill our obligations to the Bar, but also to obtain a better understanding and ability to satisfy the needs of our clients, since we are all affected and influenced by the communities in which we live and work.
